Royal British Legion Health and Wellbeing Activities in Gloucestershire

The Royal British LegionHave you, your spouse or your partner ever served in the British Armed Forces (including National Service and the Reserves)? If so, you are likely to be eligible for support from the Royal British Legion.
Age Concern Gloucestershire has now been commissioned by the Royal British Legion to provide a variety of Health and Wellbeing services in the county for anyone over 50 qualifying for Royal British Legion assistance.
It is a great way to stay fit and well and to make new friends. All the activities are free, although there may be a small charge for such things as refreshments. Click on the links below for fuller details of the services available.
 
Information Advice and Advocacy
• Pointing you in the right direction to access all kinds of help and support
• Checking that you are receiving all the money you are entitled to
• Filling in benefit forms to claim more cash if you qualify for it
• Working with you to solve problems
• We offer home visits if that is what suits you.

Information Technology

Free ‘Magic Mouse’ sessions to introduce you to the world of computers, e-mailing and the Internet are available at certain sheltered housing schemes in the Tewkesbury/Gloucester/Cheltenham area.
 

General Health and Wellbeing

The Hospital Aftercare service provides home visits for up to 6 weeks after a stay in hospital.
Age Concern Gloucestershire choirs meet in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Stroud during the daytime, usually fortnightly.
The Contact Centre in Cheltenham’s Lower High Street is a drop-in club open to all over 50s.
Volunteers lead busy, sociable lifestyles and are well supported by Age Concern Gloucestershire’s Volunteer Manager.

We have around 30 sets of plain white plates (large and small) and dessert bowls surplus to requirements.  Robust and dishwasher-proof they are ideal for a community hall or cafe.
