Information Services

We can help you. . .

Our trained and experienced staff is here to help you make the most of your retirement.  Everyone deserves a dignified and comfortable retirement.  Often, though, people are not aware of all that is available to them, or they may be faced with a problem they don't know how to solve.  Just a few ways in which we can help are:
  • Pointing you in the right direction to get the support you need
  • Checking that you are receiving all the money you are entitled to
  • Filling in forms to claim more cash if you qualify for it
  • Working with you to solve problems
Our help is provided:
  • By friendly, experienced staff
  • In a safe and confidential atmosphere
  • After listening to you what result you want
  • Independently and impartially
  • Free of charge (although a donation is always welcome)

We work closely with many other respected organisations and if we feel it would result in a better outcome for you we will make contact with them.  We will always ask your permission before we do this.

Perhaps you need an Advocate . . .

Are there times when you have wished for someone to help you say what you want? Maybe you have been unable to obtain the services you need and could do with someone by your side to support you?

Our Advocacy Service can help you with:

  • Letter-writing and making phone calls
  • Gathering information to help you make choices
  • Making sure you know your rights
  • Attendance and support for you at meetings
  • Signposting you to other agencies who may be able to help you

Things we can help you with include:

  • Making an appeal against a decision in respect of benefits
  • Negotiating with utility companies concerning payment or debt issues.

The Advocacy Service is free, confidential and independent.

Get in touch . . .

You can contact us in a variety of ways

  • By telephoning our switchboard on 01452 422660.  The telephones are manned from 8am to 4pm Mondays to Thursdays and from 8am to 3.30pm on Fridays.
  • By calling into our offices.  If we aren't able to deal with your enquiry on the spot we will make an appointment for you to come back.
  • By writing to us at our main office.
  • By emailing us at enquiries@ageconcernglos.org.uk.

We want to make sure than anyone who needs our help is able to get it as easily as possible.  So if you are disabled or for some other reason unable to come to the office we will arrange a home visit as soon as we can.

Outreach is an important part of our advice and information work so we hold information sessions throughout the county in the summer months.   More information will be posted on this page when sessions are arranged.

We have started holding regular information and advice surgeries in two of the county’s hospitals.  Although aimed at people using the hospital, as patient or visitor, anyone is welcome to drop in.
