Day Services

A good day out ...

We want to give you an enjoyable day.  Our day centres offer good company and a nourishing meal.  A range of activities helps to make each day stimulating and fun:
  • arts and crafts
  • quizzes and word games
  • gentle exercise
  • topical discussions
  • reminiscences
  • entertainment
  • information sessions
If none of these appeals, you are welcome to bring in one of your own favourite activities.  Or you may prefer to read the newspapers, or simply chat to other members.   Our staff and volunteers are always on hand to chat and provide any help you might need, and transport is provided.

Most people are referred to the centres through social services, but there are also a number of private places available.  We can provide details of the cost of these.

St Michael's Centre is at the Church Hall in School Road, Bishops Cleeve and meets every Monday.

Our Herrington Rooms Centre meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at St Paul's Church in Cheltenham.

For more information or to make a referral contact us on 01452 422660 or email enquiries@ageukgloucestershire.org.uk

Food and Friendship ...

If good food and good company are an ideal combination for you, then our drop-in centre could be just what you're looking for.

Hot meals are on the menu at the Drop In at The Old Priory, 70 Clarence Street, Cheltenham (01242 230886).  Apart from good food, visitors can enjoy companionship, board games, quizzes and a varied programme of activities. Computer tuition is offered on one day a week.  Our volunteers also arrange a programme of day trips.

The Drop In is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am to 2.30pm.  So whether you are an older person living in Cheltenham or you're just visiting the area you will be given a warm welcome.

"I was lonely and considering going into a care home.  So I contacted Age Concern for advice and they invited me to join one of their day centres.  Now I'm no longer isolated, I have lots of friends and have decided to stay in my own home."
