Choirs

On Song!

Singing is good for you - we all know that.  And most of us love to sing - even if it is only in the bath, or in front of the mirror with a hairbrush!

We currently have 3 choirs - in Gloucester (the Silver Singers), Stroud (the Supertroupers) and Cheltenham (name awaited).  They have performed in retirement homes, sheltered accommodation, lunch clubs, even museums, and once a year at our Christmas in the Cathedral event in Gloucester, bringing a lot of pleasure to a lot of other people.  This is an element which the choir members particularly enjoy.

Many people love to sing but don't feel that they are good enough for what they call a 'proper choir'.  So why not join one of ours?  Anyone is welcome, with or without singing experience.  You don't have to be able to read music or be a particular fan of classical music.  The choirs sing a very wide range of songs including folk, sacred, popular, gospel and songs from the shows.  So there is something for everyone.

The choirs normally meet weekly on a Thursday morning to rehearse, with occasional other meetings for performances.  There is no membership fee although some people make a voluntary donation of £1 - which covers tea or coffee!  The emphasis is very much on fun, and it has become a social activity.  You will certainly receive a very warm welcome.

So if you are interested in joining one of our choirs or wish to request a performance/singalong then please get in touch with Sheryl on 01452 422660 (between 9am and 5pm) or email sheryl.walpole@ageukgloucestershire.org.uk.

As one member says:

"We're such a happy bunch.  We all get on and we have a marvellous time singing our hearts out."
