JEFF CLARKE worked for many years in major international engineering companies in sales, marketing, engineering and senior management positions in UK and Asia. His last appointment before retirement was as Managing Director of TA Hydronics Pte Ltd, Singapore, and Regional Manager responsible for Asia- Pacific Business Unit.
Now fully retired, he lives with Janine, his wife of 46 years, in Richmond Painswick, a retirement village providing a range of property types and including care accommodation. Their three married children live in Gloucestershire and nearby counties with their eight children. Mr Clarke has served the local and international communities for over 30 years through the Round Table and Rotary International and has held the position of Chairman and President respectively as well as chairman of all the service committees. He brings skills and knowledge acquired through his experience in business and work in the community to the Board.
Mr Clarke has been a Director of Age UK Gloucestershire since March 2009 and took over as Chair of the Board of Directors in September 2009.

 

PEGGY DYER has had an interest in and involvement with older people for many years, both with her family and through her professional career.
Whilst employed by Oxfordshire County Council she worked as a Home Care Manager covering urban and rural areas. When she moved to Gloucestershire she was responsible for home care and meals on wheels services county-wide. Ultimately she was involved with the management of all Gloucestershire County Council services for older people and became Assistant Director responsible for all client services for the Eastern half of the county. Her final 9 years of employment were with a not-for-profit organisation as the Group Chief Executive managing 32 residential/nursing homes for older people. She is also currently involved as a Director for an organisation supporting people with learning disabilities and a Trustee of an animal shelter.
Mrs Dyer has been a member and Trustee/Director of Age UK Gloucestershire for 7 years and was Chair of Age UK Gloucestershire between 2004 and 2005. She is currently a member of the Board Nomination and Fundraising Committees.

   

JOHN FORD is currently a self employed project manager in health and social care after retiring at the end of 2008 as the Executive Board Director for community hospitals and health services in Gloucestershire. His previous career included director and senior manager posts within the NHS and Social Care. Previously Mr Ford practised as a social worker and also had a career in engineering. His particular areas of interest are delivering quality services to people with a disability and supporting carers. He brings skills and knowledge acquired through his previous experience, and in particular his links with and knowledge of local organisations with whom Age UK Gloucestershire works in partnership.Mr Ford has been a Director of Age UK Gloucestershire since March 2009 and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors since September 2009.

   

SUE LILLYMAN began her nursing career in Worcester, gained her midwifery qualification and worked in a variety of areas before entering nurse education in 1989. Her specialist area is that of nursing older people and she worked as a Senior Lecturer at Birmingham City University before taking up a post in 2009 at the University of Worcester. She is an author and co-author, of numerous articles and books on health care practice. Sue is also an experienced volunteer herself, having spent three years (2000 to 2003) doing voluntary work with Union Biblica in Peru where she worked with street boys in towns and provided medical care in the jungle.
Sue has been a trustee since 2004 and is chair of the Service Development Committee.

   

SIR ROBERT MORLAND was responsible, prior to retirement, for worldwide exports for Tate and Lyle. He served 8 years as a non-executive Director in the NHS. He has previous local government experience as a councillor in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and the former County Borough of Birkenhead, as well as being a former Parliamentary Candidate. He has served as Chairman and Treasurer of the London Conservative Party, and is a former Trustee of Age Concern Richmond upon Thames. Sir Robert is chairman of Friends of St Edward’s Parish Church, Stow-on-the-Wold and a Trustee and Director of Friends of the Cotswolds. He is also Vice-President of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club.
Sir Robert has been a member and Director of Age UK Gloucestershire since 2005 He is currently a member of the Service Development and Property Committees and chairs the Fundraising Committee.

   

DR SUSAN OWEN describes herself as "passionately committed to the cause of bettering the life of people in their later years and promoting fairness in society more generally." She is married with two adult sons who live independently and she runs a market research company, Phoenix MRC, having been a market research professional since 1978. Her training prior to professional market research was as an experimental psychologist at the University of Oxford and at Bryn Mawr in the United States.
Dr Owen has been on the Board of Trustees for Watermoor House, a not-for-profit residential home for older people, since 1998, serving as Vice-Chair, then Chair, a position she still holds. Prior to that she was on the boards of Coverage Care which owned and operated over 30 residential and nursing homes for the elderly as well as providing domiciliary care, rehabilitation and respite care. Dr Owen has been a member and director of Age UK Gloucestershire since 2005 and was board Chair from 2005 to 2009.

   

JOE ROBINSON is married to wife Olwyn and has two children, Victoria and Richard. He has worked in the Financial Services industry for the past 40 years, fulfilling a variety of roles, latterly as UK Claims Director of Zurich Financial Services, from which position he retired in 2004. He now works as a business consultant, providing advice to insurance companies and executive coaching services for their senior staff. Joe`s hobbies include cycling, reading, history of The Great War and involvement in local village activities. He also describes himself as "an optimistic supporter of Gloucester RFC".
Mr Robinson has been a volunteer with Age UK Gloucestershire for three years, primarily at the Herrington Rooms Day Centre. He is a Director of Age UK Gloucestershire’s subsidiary trading company, ACG (UK) Services Ltd, and has been on the Board of Directors of Age UK Gloucestershire and a member of the Board Nomination Committee since November 2008.

   

CHRIS WEBSTER spent many years either as the Chief Executive or as National Director and Company Director with several National Employers' Trade Associations. He has dealt with budgets, investments, business strategy and policy, industrial relations and national agreements, membership services, staff and multi-site operations. Nowadays he is retired yet is passionate about his charitable work with Age UK Gloucestershire.
Chris has been on the Board of Age UK Gloucestershire since 2004; he is also a member of both the Financial Management Group and the Risk Assessment Comittee. He has five children and four grandchildren; and he enjoys pursuing his sporting and horticultiral interests.
