Following the closure of Akeman Court, where Age Concern Cirencester ran a Pop In centre for many years, the group now meets at The Wheatsheaf in Cricklade Street. This move seems to have been accepted by the former customers of the Pop In Centre and is well attended. The cost of tea and coffee is subsidised from Pop In funds. Such is the popularity of the meetings that at the moment there are no vacancies so new members are not, unfortunately, able to be accommodated.
Age Concern Cirencester continues to hold quarterly meetings for representatives of clubs for older people in the area. These act as an exchange of information between clubs for recommending speakers, trips out, format for meetings and sharing concerns about the welfare of pensioners. When relevant there are speakers on issues of importance to older people. AC Cirencester also has sufficient funds to give financial assistance towards outings and to help clubs experiencing difficulties in sustaining their activities. These quarterly meetings are held at St Lawrence Hall, Chesterton in April, July, October and January.
